An electric motor is a durable machine, but a few simple habits dramatically extend its service life and prevent unplanned downtime.
First, keep it clean and cool — dust on the frame traps heat, the number-one enemy of insulation. Second, check alignment and belt tension, because vibration destroys bearings. Third, lubricate bearings on schedule with the correct grease, and avoid over-greasing.
Fourth, watch the electrical supply: voltage imbalance and loose terminals cause overheating, so tighten connections and log the running temperature.
